Do you ever stop and think about the way the song you just love was really written about some person out there that you’ll never know? It wasn’t a factor I had necessarily considered until I started writing about people I know, realizing that whoever reads this likely won’t. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite things about life – we’re connected in these ways we don’t always see but often feel.

Storm
I have been looking for someone to calm me.
That’s what everyone needs in a storm, right? Calm?
I am the storm. So please, for the love of God,
bring these poor people the calm to endure me.
If you’ve ever seen interactions between storms, though,
the Fujiwhara effect more specifically, you’d know.
A storm this strong is going to absorb any weakness
so sending calm into the storm is not the way to go.
My center is calm enough, I don’t need to absorb any more.
Now at this point, you might be thinking that all hope is lost.
If you’ve ever seen the Fujiwhara effect in action, you know
now we hope for a strong enough storm to throw her off course.
I saw it approaching but was so used to absorbing,
I didn’t expect this dance.
What is scarier than being amongst the chaos of a storm,
is being the chaos of a storm finally brought to calm.
Metaphorically, brought to my knees, understanding.
Maybe, my prayers weren’t answered
because the universe knew what I really needed,
and from my center of calm, looking out through chaos,
I just couldn’t see it – your storm.
Much love, until next time.
