Poetry Series – Bruno Mars It’s a W-Rap

I’ve said that I hate life so many times as I was hurting that I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge that I love the way life works. I love the way we feel drawn to people, often before understanding why. I love the way that inspiration, encouragement, comes in the shape of people and stories.

Bruno Mars, It’s a W-Rap

I’m stressin’ cause I can’t pay my rent
It’s been snowin’ and I can’t drive my bent
yeah I mean my bent up car
Boy these bald tires ain’t gon’ make it very far

I been deliverin’ food when I can
Rock my own schedule, I don’t work for no man
I been writin’ all the time in between
asking everyone I meet to follow their dreams

Sometimes I do it so I don’ feel alone
But truth is, I believe it to the bone
So I’m out here chasin’ my dreams while I can
Buildin’ up my life no matter who say I can’t.

Now I’m stressin’ cause I can’t pay my rent
Lose track of time, now the first gon’ hit
Swore I just paid this sneaky lil’ bitch
And I’d work but I’ll wind up in a ditch

These streets actin like they a slip n slide
and I can’t afford new tires for my ride
Tryin’ to figure out what I’m s’posed to do
Really wanna pay, yeah I wanna pull through

I met Bruno at the bar the other day
his names Eric, called him Bruno any way
workin’ long hours tryna to get paid
but I know he got a future music thang

But I’m stressin’ cause I can’t pay my rent
And even though I’m happy through most the shit
Feel weird offerin’ advice like I’m legit
But I get a lil’ drunk and start spillin’ my wit

So Bruno Mars listen what I say
I wrote this song real quick today
Can ya help me put some music to it ya fool –
Nah I’m playin’, I think you’re hella cool.

But I wanna see you follow your dreams
I see ya talent and I see how ya be
I know you’ll get real far, be chasin’ things
they’ll fall into place, just align with it.

Even though I’m stressin’ cause I can’t pay rent
and I probably sound like I’m full of shit
keep on puttin’ in the effort where it counts
cause I believe we create our way out.

Much love, until next time.
