Poetry Series – “Kiss Me” Cookie

I find such great irony in the fact that we both have said we don’t pick up on something unless it’s – BAM!! – right in our faces, yet we both show love in the most subtle of ways. I’ll never forget the time my Aunt asked if we have our own little language going on. You looked at me with that expression, I stuck out my tongue and it was the first time my attention was brought to the fact that just because when I’m looking at you in a crowded room, and the rest of the world drowns out of view, doesn’t mean we’re alone.

Honestly, I find it to be no surprise at this point that you are the only time I ever get subtleties. You seem to be an exception to just about every other rule too. So what’s one more, right?

“Kiss Me” Cookie

“Kiss me”
cookie
down on the bar
snatched
my heart
before anyone saw
everyone saw
cheeks flush
red
sprinkles
in my lap
your hand
another cookie
“I ♥ U”
so much

Much love, until next time.
