Poetry Series – Chicken Butt

Some things become outgrown, over-used. I don’t know if this happens by chance, length of time, frequency of occurrence, or what other criteria it goes by. Perhaps with a little extra care, we can preserve the things most important to us longer than they would have lasted if we had approached with reckless abandon – before we knew better.

Chicken Butt

What?
Chicken butt.
Giggles.
Like, so much.
What?
Chicken butt,
so much it scares me.
Confusion,
laughter.
What?
Chicken butt,
in a way
I never knew possible.
Chicken butt,
more and more
every time you kiss me.
Belly laughs,
I love you,
but what?
Smile
Glistening eyes
Yeah, Chicken butt.

Much love, until next time.
