I’m hoping that if I throw out into the void, often enough, that sometimes I just see things when I close my eyes, hear things amongst the quiet, feel things when I’m alone, know things before I’m told, maybe someone will say hey, me too. I was in the middle of another poem, trying to write some positivity into my day when mid-blink she starfish landed, from the window, onto the pavement in my parking lot, screaming to be let out.
Falling Back
standing at the edge of the pool
heels fall over the side
back towards the water
deep breath in
arms spread wide
finding the courage
cheers
fall backward.
standing at the edge
heels fall over the side
back towards the pavement
deep breath in
knuckles turning white
wouldn’t call it courage
nor cowardly
screams
beg you to stay
in the pool
chlorine laced water
laps at your face
above the pavement
blood splatter
takes its place
Much love, until next time.
