Poetry Series – How? Magic.

Empathy – the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. I’ve been putting myself in other people’s shoes my entire life. Maybe if I understand why they’re hurting, I’ll never hurt someone that way for the same reason. If you believe that we’re all connected, sometimes learning the hard way can just be from someone else’s mistakes – maybe on the receiving end but I don’t think you need to know how it feels to give it too just to say you’ve learned.

I have trouble claiming the word psychic when the truth is we just need to be open to connection if we want to be connected – any of us. That’s the simplicity of our magic – openness, with a strength that’s measured in magnitudes of love and fear, light and dark.

How? Magic.

How do you do that?
What?
How do you find exactly where it hurts?
Magic.
I’ve magically been taking on pain
my whole life
without understanding it –
why.
I’m starting to understand
why, how.
I’m learning to wash it away,
let it roll off.
Magic is easy
when you understand
the guide,
the possibilities.
How do you do that?
Magic is hard to explain,
ineffable
but not the kind of dangerous
they’d like you to believe.
I find exactly where it hurts
by being open
to what, who, where
love is needed,
care.

Much love, until next time.
