Poetry Series – Spontaneity at the Ready

What does it feel like when you get good at observing life as it passes? How do you know when your reactions have leveled out? What intensity is an acceptable one and how do we achieve just that but nothing more?

I burst into tears at some of the weirdest things over the last two weeks. It makes me think I’m not being an observer but the way I let myself be sad when it happened calls that into question. Observing doesn’t absolve you from experiencing, only judging. We don’t need to understand everything as it’s happening, or even immediately after. Let it happen and trust your ability to move forward, navigating the situation, and you’ll see the meaning isn’t one you could have found.

Spontaneity at the Ready

spontaneity swept over me heavy
I can’t stop thinking
trying to solve
the puzzle, problems
they never dissolve
solutions, answers
always revolve
around trying and doing
contemplating
only gets you so far
a master of planning
execution
another story
I can’t stop thinking
wondering
worrying
what weight have I taken on
lightening my load
don’t run
sit down, set down, rearrange
life has a funny way of surprising you
it’s spontaneous that way
get ready

Much love, until next time.
