Poetry Series – What do you want from me?

I haven’t been the most productive person, and I’m sure I haven’t even been the most present, but my presence in the moment is magnitudes more frequent than it’s been in as long as i can remember. For me, this is an achievement. For me, this is what matters in life.

I’m sitting on the bed, wrapped up in blankets and feeding my mind distractions when he goes for his guitar. First to learn a song while it’s fresh in his mind, but finishes by strumming a melody that wouldn’t leave his mind. Distractions stood no chance so I tuned in to the moment, pulled myself present and the flood of words erupted to the music finding it’s way to my mind.

I think some things are just ready to come into the world. Screaming, shouting, begging. We just have to listen.

What do you want from me?

What do you want from me?
Is there something that I don’t see here?
What do I want from you?
That’s a fair question too.
So what’s it gonna be?
Are we making this move now?
I’m ready, are you, to see
How this life turns out
What do you want from me?
Just ask me the question.
I’ll say what I want from you
if it keeps you from guessing.
Take a chance, you’ll see
I’d say yes to any question
This fear’s the enemy
But baby, you are a blessing
So, what do you want from me?
It’s time to let it all out.
What do I want from you?
A simple life, kids, someday a house
Take a chance with me
Everything will work out
I’ve never loved so deeply
And I’ve got no doubts.
What do you want from me?
Come on, we’ll figure it out.

Much love, until next time.
