I find it comical in so many ways that I still ever have the nerve to say I actively practice letting go. Take a look at the last decade of personal relationships and you’ll catch this pattern of detaching but never really letting go. Stay just present enough to be relevant in their life, their mind. All you have to do is become irreplaceable and you’ll always have a space, a safety net. What you don’t realize when you set out on the pursuit to become irreplaceable, though, is more often than not it requires letting go of who you really are to become the person you want to make feel loved. What I’ll tell you before you even think for a second that it’s still worth setting out – it’s not.
Warm Death
You weren’t cold when you died
you were still warm to the touch
your chest still heaved with every breath
your eyes closed
I sat and watched you
numb
you lay on the bed
peaceful
maybe it’s why I took so long to see it
grief lasts the longest when we won’t let go
you weren’t cold when you died
and you were gone long before I decided
I’d never see you again
Much love, until next time.
