Poetry Series – Vulnerable Confessions

Do you ever feel like your sexuality doesn’t fit your body? Like it’s not yours to carry around, show off, do something with? I’m learning to love my love and love my sexuality too. I’m learning to accept that intimacy isn’t just a thing to be had between two and that it differs from commitment, the decision to choose. So if I show you mine, will you show me yours too? We’ll call it authenticity, just a bit of truth.

Vulnerable Confessions

I have a confession
The truth is
I’m not a bitch
My awkwardness just throws fits
Takes over if I’m trying to fit in
Causes a scene
I’m not sure if you’ve seen
me trip over my own feet
I excited shake, get weak in the knees
My voice picks up this quiver
It’s how you know I’ve been triggered
my vulnerability
every poem, way too personal, way too me
and I see when you’re covering up when you speak
so if you catch my face drop, throw me some authenticity
you’ll see me light up, good mood recovery
I’ll maintain this pleasant disposition even if you confess you hate me
as long as you say it authentically
but at the same time
I’m ashamed of how I love, demand intimacy
and I don’t mean touching, don’t mean bodily
I’m more of like, a secret freak
and I don’t mean secretly a freak, that’s in the open
I mean, whisper me a secret and let me keep it
Show me your parts
Best, worst, private, in public
And you’ll see that my love is bad at hiding
kinda like fucking
I get way too loud, can’t keep it a secret
I think you’re way too good at this and people should see it
I think you look your best bared, naked and shaking
I think we all just feel scared but we’re intrigued and peeking
Look in on everyone’s lives like we’re reading a story
Then cover up, disguise yours like you think it’s too small, boring
Don’t compare what you have, I’m not just talking size
We’re all perfectly made, perfectly growing, perfect in the right eyes
I know that it’s hard, don’t let it stop you from showing
They’re the best of your parts and I love what you’re doing
I wish you’d embrace who you are and be proud of where you’re going

Much love, until next time.
