Poetry Series – Inside Job

As I watch the reactions, I remind myself, that some people have grown up in a household in which they received more attention for their tantrums than ever for a gentle bid for love. My heart aches for them, all, as I watch them split into two. Half carries the weight of determination to never let the feeling fall on another that surrounds them, half tosses their weight around like an angry drunken stepfather, home from the bar.

I’m betting on the first half to change the world while watching the second half try to take control of the world. Perhaps, at any cost. The ill fate at the end of a life of stolen abundance. Never knowing when it’s time to stop flashing your greed and calling it wealth.

Inside Job

Consider if it was an inside job

A willingness to withstand wounding
for the reignited sense of passion
After all
when faced with loss, fear takes hold, people do crazy things
A desperation to feel the love
that’s rightfully drifting

Consider if it was an inside job

First order of business,
Source a soul, willing to die for me
willing to die
instead of me
but they must love me
so they don’t die with me

I place an ad in the personals,
Seeking individuals,
Depression Study

Profile, video game nerd,
Specialized in shooter games
Solo mission
my team
tells me I’m absurd

But I find him,
Prepared to leave,
wanting for opportunity
Train him for months
on the right way to hurt me

Oh, the love that I’ll get
when he does it publicly
Out he’ll go, up I’ll go
Just as we agreed

Consider if it was an inside job

When faced with loss
Some people, will do anything
In an attempt to regain control

Much love, until next time.
