Poetry Series – Angry Eviction

I’ve been getting the message a lot that much of what holds us back lies in faulty definitions and outdated beliefs.

Flashback to a time where gender roles had a stronger hold on the world and a “good woman” would step back and do as she was told. But how beautiful a contrast for the roles to be blurred, fullness reemerging as every individual realizes their intrinsic worth.

How beautiful a contrast to acknowledge the power contained in this single body and the good it can do.

Angry Eviction

On a manhunt for purpose, my body has served many
Varying magnitudes of “goodness”
But none suitcasing shame around the way anger has
an unwelcome guest, taken permanent residency in my home
Not even my body is safe – my body is home
Too many angry intruders beat down the door
So I’ve been out of my mind, feel unwelcome anymore
But I’m reclaiming what’s mine, eviction notice served
Plant seeds of purpose in my garden, harvesting love at every turn
These walls will be filled with joy and laughter
It’s been a long time coming, it’s what we deserve
I’ll be accepting no less, mark my words

Much love, until next time.
