Poetry Series – Privacy

As I write this, I’m mentally preparing myself to bare it all – performing poetry naked in front of a whole-lotta also naked people. This will be my second nudist event, and second scheduled poetry performance (like outside of my fun lil group of slams/open mics) and I’m here anxiously asking myself – “why?”.

But…

Did I tell you that one time I dated a boy for like 3 whole years, had a baby and all, and only twice was I ever actually naked in front of them – once being a total accident.

So when I tell you that purpose looks different to everyone – it’s because it does.
So when you don’t understand why, that’s on purpose.
Finally, a chance to fearlessly acknowledge a new perspective – ASK, listen, trust.

Privacy

I’ve been feeling kind of alienated lately
Spacey, scared to approach, like maybe they’ll hate me
Butt – I’ve got some probing questions
I have to ask or else they’ll take me

What’s the point of privacy
If there’s nothing shady?
Isn’t it possession, ownership, gatekeeping?
Do you think if we were naked, we’d be less inclined to keep secrets?
Hypothetically speaking –
is refusal to stay open a weakness?
Take it any way – I mean it.
Is commitment compatible with freedom?

I’ve got a probing question,
What’s it like to have a penis?

Next in the transmission, we would like to make an offering as a showing of gratitude for the platform you have provided us with.

Confession: Only ever have we found love, through unapologetic being and fearless speaking.

Much love, until next time.
