Poetry Series – Bridges

Y’all. I’m salty.  There’s an aching in my bones longing for the water below. This bridge is nice and all but.. I wonder if it’s time to go.

Bridges

I imagine –
When a bridge breaks.
It doesn’t happen all at once.
Seasons weather at the foundation with no bother of tending.
Support crumbles under the weight of a promise to hold, that you just can’t live up to.

I imagine, even if it doesn’t happen all at once,
They inevitably bring devastation when they do
But youd be amazed at how many people can live through
Breaking.
Crashing.
Disconnecting.
The ending of friendships.

Did you know selfishness breeds in depression?
You start thinking you’re so special the world’s out to get you.
Did you know apathy is a weapon?
A lack of care you hold to your own throat until you’re gasping for connection but everyone’s left and I would stay but…
I decided I like effort from friends.
The end.

Much love, until next time.
